WLO, year by year.
Every series we sold, the year it happened, the customers’ photos from that year and the brand around it. Images from the old listings are renders, as they were shown then; from 2025 on they are photographs. Reviews written for a retired product stay with that product; they never move to a house that is still on sale.
The first prototypes
A dream takes shape. The brand began in a modest workshop, building handcrafted prototypes and shaping them with the first customers’ feedback into living spaces that work and look right in a home.

Built by an artist.
WLO is not just a brand. It is the living expression of a lifelong passion for both art and purposeful innovation. Founded by Erman Burak Satana, a trained orchestral conductor and pianist, WLO’s journey began with a commitment to craftsmanship that goes far beyond business as usual. Burak’s unique perspective as an artist has shaped every detail of the WLO universe.
Every house and bed here is an original WLO design.
Launching on Etsy
The first Etsy store opened with a handful of orders a month and grew to 678 orders in our first six months of sales on Etsy, carried by customer word of mouth and the designs themselves. The 2020 listings: Solid Pine houses and beds in four shapes, the Elevated Spruce beds and the walnut Modern Dog House. All three series kept selling through 2025.
Scaling up through the pandemic, and the crate family
Demand surged, most of it from U.S. customers. WLO set up its own manufacturing facility and grew the team past fifty people. The same year the four shapes most people know WLO by went on sale: Gabled, Pueblo, Lakota and Hexxon, in walnut, oak, white, black, gray and green, with elevated versions and matching parts.
Hexxon:
The Basic dog bed
The Basic dog bed sold in 2022 and 2023, next to the four crate shapes. The team kept growing in Lexington.
U.S. warehouse and the simple houses
The first U.S. warehouse opened in North Carolina for faster, more dependable shipping. The simple dog houses and the Arched dog bed arrived the same year. A cat line sold from 2023 on our marketplace stores, outside this site.
Our own headquarters
A new home in Lexington. WLO bought its own building and production facility in Lexington, North Carolina, and became fully independent in how it makes and ships. The 2024 catalog was announced in December 2023.
Made in the USA, in our own building
Every WLO crate is made in the USA by our team in Lexington, North Carolina: Gabled, Pueblo and Lakota from EcoComposite panels, with cushions, covers and engraved name tags sold as parts. Studio photographs, not renders, from here on.
This year, updated as it goes
